Urban Indigenous Coalition Coordinator

Description:

The Prince George Urban Indigenous Coalition (UIC) seeks a qualified and experienced Program Coordinator to support the development and implementation of Coalition Workplan initiatives as set within the Strategic Framework.

Reporting to the administrative lead, the Urban Indigenous Coalition Coordinator (UICC) will oversee the design, implementation, coordination and administration of all aspects of the Urban Indigenous Coalition activities.   Under the guidance of the administrative lead, the UICC will be responsible to work with Coalition members to design and implement collaborative approaches toward showcasing and enhancing indigenous services within the city of Prince George.  This project will test innovation within a community based model.  Working in a team setting the Coordinator will be required to lead promotions and research; design policy, procedures and tools; efficiently manage the complete cycle of program development/management duties and provide activity monitoring, report writing and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning:  the delivery of initiatives, responsibilities and activities in accordance with the goals and objectives identified in the workplan; transfer the workplan to a program logic model (PLM) document which is changeable as new activities are identified; transfer the PLM to a project dashboard to identify timelines; implement the goals and objectives of the UIC to achieve successful outcomes; develop new and supporting initiatives, should the opportunity arise; oversee the budget and operational plan; implement a project evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the delivery and to identify areas of improvement.
  • Organize/Coordinate:  the activities, schedules, purchasing, contracts, supplies and facilities according to Association policy; ensure the project operates within the policies and procedures of the Association, Indigenous Services Canada and Treasury Board; ensure the project complies with all relevant legislation and professional standards; utilize Association forms and records to document activities and outcomes; oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the clients of the project for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the government.
  • Stakeholder Relations:  prepare communications and promotional materials; develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategy; engage federal and provincial governments and community associations.
  • Program Development and Administration:  conduct and/or participate in project planning; complete ongoing reports as determined by funding agents; use of evaluation component to provide formative and summative feedback; contribute to development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of strategies; oversee the work of the team and contribute to their development and training; develop ongoing strategies, initiatives to maintain, improve and enhance program; oversee contracts with sub contractors; meet with finance on a regular basis to oversee project budget.

Basic Knowledge/Skill/Attributes:

  • Knowledge of Urban Aboriginal labour force dynamics, needs and opportunities
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in project management and post secondary degree (education in human services, business administration, labour market programming or other relevant field)
  • Excellent written, verbal/listening communication skills, conflict resoluation, public speaking and report writing
  • Case management skills, knowledge of confidentiality (FOIPPA), and adhere to relevant privacy legislation
  • Excellent time and organizational management along with the ability to prioritize tasks, flexibility to deal with unexpected issues and effective decision making.  Advocacy and proposal writing skills.  Knowledge of MS Office , web apps, databases and social media
  • Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation
  • The successful candidate will be required to submit a satisfactory criminal records check.

Hours of Work:  Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Salary:  $50,000 to $65,000 per annum (under review)
