The position: This is a full-time opportunity for the position of Environmental Monitor, supporting our EDI team and our Indigenous partnerships on various projects throughout western Canada. In this position, you will be responsible for developing/implementing various Environmental Management Plans to confirm compliance with permit conditions and project commitments. This will be achieved through conducting on-site environmental inspections/audits, monitoring work activities in relation to environmental protection, documenting the effectiveness of environmental protection measures and providing corrective measure recommendations. You will be responsible for data collection, data management and preparing technical summary reports outlining your findings, as well as communicating with clients, regulators, and contractors. Depending on the position and your qualifications, you may also provide support for other environmental management programs on site including sediment and erosion control, water quality monitoring, fish or amphibian salvage, pre-clearing bird- or wildlife surveys, and reclamation activities.
We are looking for someone with: • Experience supporting responsible project development through the balance of environmental protection, safety, and project requirements • Experience in mining, oil and gas, power, renewable energy, and/or infrastructure projects • Understanding of applicable environmental legislation, regulations, and policies to support project-specific compliance • Experience in environmental monitoring and implementation of best management practices and mitigation measures • Strong organizational and time management skills • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with clients, contractors, agencies, and co-workers, including experience with technical writing • Self-motivated and responsive, yet calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment, with strong problem-solving abilities • Physically fit and able to work long days (10 to 12 hours) in the field in all weather conditions • Willingness to travel for field work in remote locations and/or between offices Initial resume screening will only consider applicants that meet the following job requirements: • A minimum of 3 years of environmental consulting experience • Diploma or B.Sc. Degree in Renewable Resources or Natural Sciences or related discipline(s) • Registration or eligibility for registration (e.g., R.P. Bio., P.Ag., AScT, P.Geo., RPF) is considered as an asset • Class 5 Drivers Licence Additionally, demonstrated experience in at least one of the following qualifications will be required: • Construction site erosion and sediment control • Water quality monitoring • Pre-clearing surveys for birds and wildlife
