In accordance with the Mission Statement of Carrier Sekani Family Services; the program is responsible for delivering programs and services using a holistic model of care and practicing in a culturally respectful and safe manner.
Responsibilities:
The Youth Support Worker (YSW) is responsible for the advice and support of culturally based programs that interface with the CSFS staff, community members and community care providers.
- Perform assessments, implement goal plans and collect data and charting on progress
- Develop community programming based on demonstrated need as outlined in community plans and individual goal plans
- Provide advocacy for individuals and families as required to ensure their rights and the holistic best interests of the child(ren) are upheld
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Health or Human Services preferred
- Minimum of two years health program management experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Preferred Skill:
- Minimum, Post-Secondary education, or Social Work Diploma and/or Legal Services Diploma
- Social Services working experience with a First Nation's community is an asset
- Experience working with First Nation people
- Experience working with Children and Families
- Valid driver's license and own transportation
Special Conditions:
- Extensive computer works and typing requiring long hours sitting and using office equipment
- Lifting of office boxes and supplies may be required - research materials
- May be required to attend Culture/Traditional Ceremonies
- Initial and on-going employment is subject to submission of a clear Criminal Record Check
- Criminal Record Check must be conducted every three years as per CSFS Policy
- The incumbent is expected to sign a CSFS/SFN Code of Conduct & Ethics
