Description:
Working directly with the Volunteer Coordinator to carry out CFUR’s youth focused programs, or the “CFURadio Youth Academy” if COVID-19 protocols allow.
The Youth Development Coordinator (YDC) is to assist overseeing multiple units of youth members, and addresses issues as they arise. While working with youth, the YDC mitigates anxiety to provide encouragement and coaching to participants who come from all walks of life. They will be one of the central figures youth encounter during their interaction with the station. They must become familiar with training goals, communicate clearly with colleagues, modify day plans when needed, take and share digital notes on what activities work well, suggest improvements, and point out possible future pitfalls in operation. Among these tasks, their central duties entail acting independently to work with youth, and as a team member in group settings, to carry out the day’s goals. They will learn techniques in broadcasting and recording in order to better inform members. Building relationships with both youth, parents, and educators is essential to the role. Where necessary, they will seek assistance from the Volunteer Coordinator (VC) to strengthen various broadcasting concepts among the youth members. If the youths express interest in participating further in broadcasting after the camp or outreach project(s), the YDC is to work with the Volunteer Coordinator to arrange that possibility.
