Volunteer Coordinator Position - Term Position

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) and delegated staff, the Volunteer Coordinator (VC) is responsible for supporting community program initiatives.  The VC liaises with staff in understanding capacity needs, recruiting and encouraging volunteer participation, and supervising volunteers to benefit tenants, applicants, community members, as well as staff.

Key Duties:

  • Works with staff, partner agencies and community members to understand program needs and develop a volunteer plan and ongoing activities
  • Develops relationships and engages volunteers through community networks, direct referrals, calls and meetings, and online media, as applicable
  • Coordinates selection process and administration of volunteers
  • Coordinators volunteer support, activities and acknowledgement
  • Supervises volunteers in collaboration with staff as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant educational certificate, minimum 1 years' related experience, or equivalent level of training and experience
  • Knowledge of local Indigenous population
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including technical writing, accuracy recording numbers, text, and typewritten materials
  • Excellent client-focused service skills
  • Must have strong computer skills and experience, particularly Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Knowledge of office equipment including telephone switchboard, fax machines, photocopiers and calculators
  • Must be bondable - a Criminal Record check is required

This position is on an interim basis (estimated three to six month term), ranging from part to full time with potential renewal and/or extension
