Description: Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Prince George Planning Forester $58,806.85 - $73,579.13 annually BC Timber Sales (BCTS) manages about 20 per cent of the province’s allowable annual cut for Crown timber, generating economic prosperity for British Columbians through the safe, sustainable development and auction of Crown timber. BCTS operates in 33 communities and directly supports over 8,000 jobs across B.C. BCTS also supports government’s commitment to true, lasting reconciliation with First Nations in BC as we move toward fully adopting and implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. To find out more about our program check out the BCTS website The Planning Forester analyzes and produces a wide range of data to develop integrated resource and operational plans, primarily the Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) and operating plans. The position develops and implements results and strategies to meet the FSP and ensures planning components meet legislative, operating, and certification requirements. The position provides functional direction to field team professionals and technicians with expertise in timber development, harvesting, engineering and silviculture. The position builds and maintains relationships with representatives from Indigenous Peoples, resource stakeholders, Ministry and industry contacts. To find out more, explore What the BC Public Service offers You Qualifications for this role include: • A Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or be eligible for registration as an RPF with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP) and two years (gained within the last five years) of experience in operational field forestry activities. • Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C.
