POSITION TITLE: Music Library Assistant (Music Department) TERM: 15 Weeks Between June 28th & October 8th, 2021
POSITION SUMMARY: The Music Library Assistant is responsible for helping assist the Music Department with maintaining CFUR’s ever-expanding music library as well as the Northern BC Audio Archive. This position will include work on both newly received and older music within the library and will include work with LPs, CDs, and digital titles within the CFUR library. 20 hours per week @ $15.20hr
JOB DESCRIPTION: ● Help the Music Department manage CFUR’s physical and digital library ●Online engagement (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Website) ●Assist with the expansion of the Northern BC Audio Archive, including communicating with musicians, arts organizations, and contributors ●Record station IDs, PSAs, and show promos as needed ●Other duties as necessary ●Work to make the library more accessible ●Use of Metadata tags in order to process files properly
QUALIFICATIONS: ● Must be a Canadian citizen between 15-30 years of age (Canada Summer Jobs Program Requirement) ●Must be able to participate in creating a safe environment ●An interest in independent music of varying genres and styles ●Strong organizational skills and attention to detail ●Ability to communicate effectively and comfort with phone calls and email ● Basic knowledge of iTunes, Google Spreadsheets, Google Drive, Slack an asset ● Knowledge of recording technique and Adobe Audition and/or ● Audacity an asset ● Ability to work independently and as a team
LOCATION ON-CAMPUS: CFUR 88.7 FM, NUGSS Student Centre, 3rd Floor, Office 6-354. Note: CFUR is mostly working remotely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, there may be times when presence at the office is necessary, provided public health orders allow.
